Now What?

Now that you have a family member, now what?

Hey everyone, I'm sharing a few things to get you started with your new puppy that I use myself on our husky pack (as well as our two non-husky members, Elsa, our Doberman, and Thor, our German Shepherd).

Grooming: Do you have a husky and need grooming tips?  If so, then this is for you!

Every husky owner knows of the coat blowouts where it snows fur!  (Ours normally do it twice a year.)  Siberian huskies shed their undercoats twice a year.  This is called "blowing the coat."  It usually occurs in spring as the weather warms and again in fall to make way for the growth of a new undercoat for the cold weather ahead.  You should never have the undercoat of your Siberian husky manually removed, as in, no shaving.

I use this  undercoat rake first:  https://amzn.to/3Mrjg7G

Then give them a good scrubbing in the bath with this: https://amzn.to/3Sq3Iol

Finally, use a high-velocity dryer to help push out the old undercoat (do this in an area where you don't mind hair going everywhere because the fur will fly!) https://amzn.to/45WRgj6

Then I spray in a detangler.  https://amzn.to/3tUSYEp

And brush out with this: https://amzn.to/3FGArOT

And finally, use this to give off a super fresh scent.  I love how it smells and they keep the clean smell from this for quite a while.  https://amzn.to/3QHTzlT

Huskies typically don't have the super strong "dog" odor that most breeds have due to their lack of an oily coat.  You should not bathe your husky too often because it will dry out their fur and their skin.  One thing that is quite nice about them is that they are very clean dogs.

On your wooly-coated sides, be sure to always check around the ears, as they tend to knot up and can get very tangled if not brushed well when shedding starts.
